Puppies are born with some immunity from their mother, but it fades fast. Vaccinations are how we bridge the gap until their own immune system can defend them.
6–8 weeks: First DHPP (distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza). This is the cornerstone vaccine — parvo alone kills thousands of unvaccinated puppies in India every year.
10–12 weeks: Second DHPP booster, plus leptospirosis if your area is high-risk.
14–16 weeks: Final DHPP booster and the first rabies shot. Rabies is mandatory in India and required for travel.
After 1 year: Annual boosters. Your vet may recommend a 3-year DHPP protocol after the first annual.
Always wait at least 7 days after each vaccine before bathing or strenuous exercise.
